Jesus said that He would lay down his life, and after three days he would take it up again. Which means that Jesus wasn’t murdered. The soldiers taunted Him, "Save Yourself, if you’re so great." But Jesus didn’t save Himself, even though He could have. Jesus saw it through to the end, and then He rose again on the third day.
The story of the Cross is a mystery that we must take by faith: Jesus Christ died as the perfect lamb sacrifice so that mankind would have a way to the Father. Salvation by Jesus Christ is available so we can be "born again" into the family of God.
We celebrate Easter because Jesus is not dead: He is Risen! He lives!
