Today, the Dominican Order keeps the feast of St Margaret of Hungary, a princess of tht royal family which has produced so many saints. She became a Dominican nun, and when her father tried to press her to marry the king of Bohemia, she said: "I esteem infinitely more the King of Heaven and the inconceivable happiness of possessing Jesus Christ than the crown offered me by the king of Bohemia."
St Margaret went on to live a life of great austerity and penance in the convent her parents had built near Buda, and she died at the age of just 28, renowned for her charity and revered as a saint.

Church of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
This church is known to Petersburgers as the Church on the Blood, as it marks the spot where Alexander II was fatally wounded in an assassination attempt on March 1, 1881.
Alexander II died of the wounds inflicted by the terrorist group People’s Will. Immediately, his heir, Alexander III, declared his intention to erect a church on the site in his father’s memory, and to have this church built in "traditional Russian" style.
After the Revolution, the church – despite becoming an official cathedral in 1923 – was looted. It was re-opened in 1997 after renovations.
